Ah ha ha ha ha ha….

22 Aug

That laugh will be forever burned into my brain. The maniacal, borderline insane feel to it. There has been no one, and dare I say, will be no one, who can match that spine tingling feeling you get when you hear it. I can hear you asking, Who? Who’s laugh is so memorable?

Who else, but the Joker.

Now, we aren’t talking about your run of the mill Joker here, no we are talking about the animated Joker. The one from Batman: The Animated Series, and most recently Batman Arkham Asylum, the video game. Why is that Joker the one that sticks in my mind? Well, first off, the writing was great on both the animated series and in the video game, but it was the voice that gave the Joker so much character. If you haven’t heard the voice, check out the clip at the end of the article.

Who is it that does the voice, though? Why am I talking about it now? Well, I’ll answer the second question first.

Sadly, in my opinion, the voice of that Joker is retiring his Joker, after the sequel Batman: Arkham City is released. In my eyes, the most memorable Joker will laugh no more. Now, onto the second question. Who does the voice?

Well, it all goes back to a farm boy on a remote world with 2 suns. I’m speaking of Tatooine and Luke Skywalker, or at least the actor who played him, Mark Hamill.

Yup.

Ok… Is your mind sufficiently blown?

Good. Let’s get back to it then, shall we? See, it’s going to suck knowing that Arkham City will be the last time we get to hear the Joker, as portrayed by Mark Hamill. Why do I say that? Well, for me he is the best, and after watching Batman: Under The Red Hood, it’s just not the same without Mark Hamill as the Joker. There you have it.

I can’t wait to hear his last “ha”…

A couple of links to further explore Joker’s last hurrah, and Mark Hamill in general.
